Explain the concept of nation-state and how it differs from earlier ways to govern.
The concept of nation-state is recent. Nation-state makes it somewhat easier to divide the world into a certain territories. Though this did create conflicts, it overall helps the government govern in a more organized fashion. Before the 1800's, Earth was mainly organized in other ways such as, city-states, empires, kingdoms, and small land areas ruled by nobles. The rest of the land was unorganized territory.
