Describe the principal alliances in Europe during the Cold War Era. What were the political differences between the Soviet Union and the United States?
The principal alliances in Europe during the Cold War Era were the European Union and COMECON. These alliances were economic. Economic alliances became more important then military alliances. The Soviet Union was a communist country. Economically, communism allowed the people in society to equally benefit from labor. In communism, a single authoritarian government controls activities. The United States is a capitalist country. Economically, people have the freedom to make money for self profit. Capitalism is based on the idea that everyone has individual rights (Everyone for themselves).
